What Happened?
Imagine attending the Cannes Film Festival in 2011, walking down a flight of stairs in a pristine white tuxedo, with cameras following your every move. You’re in good spirits until you trip and fall embarrassingly down the stairs in front of a crowd of onlookers. Fast forward to 12 years later, and you find photographs of yourself online, but with people misrepresenting you as Jason Derulo, falling down the steps of the Met Gala. The only problem is, you were never at the Met Gala.

Is it really Jason Derulo?
It all started when someone on the internet mistakenly identified the man in the white suit as Jason Derulo and tweeted that he had fallen down the steps of the 2015 Met Gala. Jason himself quickly took to social media to correct the record, explaining that he was actually in Los Angeles at a practice when the supposed incident happened. “I’m at a rehearsal in Los Angeles, LOL. Fuck you all! Haha,” he wrote on Instagram.

No, it’s Not Him but..
However, despite the correction, the meme persisted and even expanded to other award shows such as the Grammy Awards, the Golden Globes, and the Oscars, as well as the Met Gala in 2021 and 2022. It seemed that this internet trend was unstoppable, until people began to correct the record and inform others that the man in the photographs was not Jason Derulo at all.

Meme never dies.
Fast-forward to 2023, this meme doesn’t die-up. It still goes viral is social media from time to time. The Good thing is a number of people already knew that this is just a hoax and able to inform other readers that this picture is not Jason Derulo.
