Celine Dion Diagnosed With an Incurable Health Condition

Celine Dion announced to the public that she has been diagnosed with an incurable health issue.

The famous French-Canadian singer shared with her 5.2 million followers on Instagram that she has been diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder called spasticity syndrome. This condition causes uncontrollable muscle spasms that make walking and singing difficult. As a result, scheduled performances in the UK and Europe next year will not be possible. The singer has struggled with health issues for some time and it’s hard for her to talk about it.

In her announcement, she told her fans the news that because of her worsening medical condition, she was unable to pursue her tour concerts.

It has been a challenge.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a significant portion of the star’s world tour had to be postponed. Unfortunately, she was also forced to reschedule the tour dates again this year due to her own health struggles, specifically “severe and persistent muscle spasms.” This has resulted in several show cancellations, including dates in Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester, and London. The star’s Las Vegas residency has also been impacted.

In a recent statement, the star reassured her fans that she has a dedicated team of doctors working to help her get better and that her children are providing support and encouragement.

What is Tough Man Syndrome and is there a treatment?

Spasticity Syndrome (SPS) is a rare and poorly understood neurological disorder. According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders, it is characterized by fluctuations in muscle stiffness and increased sensitivity to stimuli such as noise, touch, and emotional stress, leading to muscle spasms. People with SPS may adopt abnormal postures, their movements may be too limited, and they may be afraid to leave the house for fear of cramps and falls. Frequent falls can cause serious injuries.

There is currently no cure for SPS, but treatments such as anti-anxiety medications and muscle relaxants can help slow its progression.
